THE VISIBLE ECHO

The camera has played a significant role in our culture.  In everyday use, it captures moments that serve as touch-points in our lives, preserving and enabling us to document and sustain the experience of our happiest times through photography.  We choose to photograph that which is important and relevant to us, creating an archive of memories with our pictures.  These moments reside in those photographs – a birth, a graduation, a wedding, a vacation, a sunset, a picnic – providing evidence of our existence.

The works in this exhibit are evocative of a more universal, or seven shared, memory.  They are tied to moments of interest and curiosity.  While I have a personal connection to these images as a result of my experiences, they go beyond the personal and connect to larger themes – the memory of lost love, dreams, the thread of time that connects us to an old friend, or the feeling of the air in Autumn.  They illustrate the emotions that underscore our daily lives creating a form of visual soundtrack, echoing in our consciousness.

The Visible Echo opens on September 28, 2018 at 6:30 PM at the CARLISLE ARTS LEARNING CENTER [Carlisle, PA ]. The gallery schedule and times can be found at carlislearts.org. The exhibit will be on display until November 3, 2018.
